Recycle Craft – Mini Tree House
If you’re looking for something unique for the little ones to play with, why not try your hand at making this mini tree house as a recycle craft. This was created by our brand ambassador and EYFS teacher Katie Taylor of Early Years Outdoor and she’s shared with us her step-by-step process so you too could make your very own. Not only does it look good but it’s all made from recyclable materials that you can find around your home. So put some time aside, grab your craft box, pieces of cardboard and a cup of tea and let’s get crafting…
You will need:
Various pieces of cardboard, loo roll tubes, string, scissors and glue.
Step 1
To start your recycle craft, cut the cardboard into wavy oval shapes for your bases. You will need one large and two smaller pieces.
Step 2
Cut smaller pieces to make the tents, ladders and swings.
Step 3
Cut around the end of the cardboard tubes and glue them onto the bases. Glue the smaller bases onto the top of the tubes.
Step 4.
To make the swing, create two holes in a strip of cardboard and push the string through. Tie a knot at each end. Create two holes in the top base to thread the string through and tie knots to secure it. Create the tents by folding the strips of card in half and glueing them to the bases.
Step 5
Add your cardboard ladders and any other accessories you create. You could add tiny twigs to make a campfire or small cardboard circles for seating.
Final step
Accessorise with wooden trees, nature and peg people. Enjoy playing with your recycled tree house!
