Must have back-to-school classroom essentials

It’s nearly the end of the summer holidays meaning the start of a fresh school year is around the corner. For children the start of a new school year means creating memories with their classmates and teachers. It also means lots of fun and adventure to look forward to.

We’ve created a list of back to school classroom essentials teachers must have before kids return.

Classroom essentials:

School stationery

When you’re in the middle of planning for your new school year, it can be easy to forget about one very important thing: your stationery. The start of a new school year is a great time to make sure you have all the things you need for your classroom including textbooks, pens, pencils and notebooks

As the school year starts it can become very busy. This is due to pupils preparing for their classes, activities and assignments. Having a wide range of stationery in your classroom can help make your day-to-day tasks easier.

Plenty of water bottles

The start of the new school year can become very busy for teachers. It is important to keep yourself hydrated and use water bottles in your classroom to refill for on the go.

As well as yourself, make sure your pupils keep hydrated. Store extra water bottles for your class so they can easily grab one when they need it. This will help them from getting dehydrated during their class time.

Keeping water bottles in the classroom can help boost classroom performance for both teachers and pupils. This leads to better concentration from your pupils and therefore they learn more, leading to success.

Clean classrooms

School cleanliness impacts the health of teachers and pupils. Having a clean classroom prevents viruses and germs from spreading.

Teachers are in close contact with their children throughout the day, so it’s important that they keep on top of cleaning to ensure no one, including themselves, fall ill. Teachers can also feel more stressed out if they come into contact with things like mould and mildew during their day-to-day activities in the classroom. This will be reflected in their teaching style, which may negatively impact pupils’ performance.

To prevent this, teachers should make sure their classrooms are clean before the start of the school year. Start by using detergents, eco drops, and cleaning wipes to clean floors and surfaces. In addition, maintaining a clean classroom helps keep children focused. If they see their teacher spend time cleaning up after them instead of teaching them new material, it can make them feel like they aren’t being taken seriously.

Name tags and labels

Before the start of the busy school year, make sure the tables in your classroom are organised by having name tags and labels for where the kids sit.

The beginning of a new year can be overwhelming for pupils. It is always hectic as children are trying to get ready for class and make sure they have everything they need. It can be difficult for them to keep track of all their belongings when they are rushing around and chatting to friends.

Having name tags on tables and items labelled to each pupil, will help them to know exactly where to look when they need something. This is especially helpful if you are putting items in different places throughout the day or if there are multiple people on one table. Labels can also help identify which items belong to who so that no one gets confused.

Teachers who do this for the new year will make the kids feel welcomed back, or into, the school.

Overall, it’s important that you have all your classroom supplies to ensure your pupils lessons are meaningful and worthwhile whilst they are back in school.
