The 1st March marks the Welsh celebration of St David’s Day.

St David’s Day is a great opportunity to get crafting with your little ones. One of the most significant symbols of St David’s Day is the dragon and we have a fantastic dragon craft by Mrsb_2011 to try!

Follow the step-by-step below to create a fire-breathing Welsh dragon!

What you’ll need:

  • Red, yellow and orange tissue paper
  • Green, orange and purple paper or card
  • Toilet roll
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Pink paint
  • Black felt tip pen
  • Wooden stick
  • Tea light
  • Decorations of your choice

Step 1

First cover your toilet roll in green paper or card, use cello tape to fix together.

Step 2

Next cut strips of tissue paper the same length. Then, attach to the end of the toilet roll to create the fire.

Step 3

Next, cut out the shape of eyes and the headdress of the dragon out of the orange and purple card.

Step 4

Fix these to the opposite then of the tube using cello-tape and glue.

Step 5

Finally choose 2 pom-poms for the nostrils and 2 wiggly eyes and stick them onto the top of the tube.
