Recycled festive friends

What better way to recycle toilet roll tubes than to create these festive friends for some Chistmas fun. From santa, the grinch and snowmen to reindeer with naturak antlers, we’ve got all the essentials you need for this fun, festive craft idea.

Explore how to create these easy recycled festive friends and be prepared for the Christmas season.

Step 1

Gather some toilet tube rolls to turn into the festive friends. Ask children to collect them to gain more for the whole class to use!

 

Step 2

Paint the toilet roll tubes in various colours. Use red and white for santa, green and red for the grinch, white for the snowman and brown for the reindeer.

 

Step 3

Let the toilet roll tubes dry and create the hats for santa and the grinch. Draw a half circle on a new tube and cut this out. Roll the cone from the pointed edges an glue at the seams.

Use nature to create the antlers. Ask children to forage for the twigs and take them outdoors!

Step 4

Stick white pom poms to finish santas beard and the grinch’s hat onto the dried rolls. You can even stick a red pom pom for the reindeers nose.

 

Step 5

Draw faces on them and create noses from coloured paper. Use googly eyes to make them come to life.

 

Step 6

Add the finishing touches to finsh the festive friends off. Whether that’s creating some earmuffs for the snowman or a belt for santa. Also, use glitter and sequins as creatively as your pupils want to make them extra festive.
