- Coloured card
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Pen
Step one
Line ruler 1cm from the edge of the card and draw a line. Do this for each edge.
Step two
Cut along the lines to make your card a square shape from a rectangle.
Step three
Fold the square in half lengthways.
Step four
Fold the bottom left corner diagonally, just past the centre of the top of the card. Then fold the right side of the card over the top.
Step five
Fold this in the centre lengthways, creating a cone shape.
Step six
Mark a curved line near the top of the cone shape with a pen. Then cut along this line.
Step seven
Draw four rectangles, top to bottom on the card. Make sure to leave a small space between one edge and the rectangle and draw to the other edge.
Step eight
Cut along the rectangles, creating holes in the card and unfold. You will see that you have created a spider’s web!
Step nine
Decorate how you wish and hang up around the classroom to get in the spooky mood.

Handprint spider art
This is one of the most fun Halloween crafts for kids as pupils can get messy with some hand painting. Create creepy spiders that can pair with the spider webs craft above, to display in the classroom.
Follow the steps below to create these handprint spiders.
What you’ll need
- Coloured paper in Halloween colours
- Black paint
- Googly eyes
- Felt tips
Step one
Dip your left hand into the black paint and press onto the centre of the paper, then repeat with the right hand. Make sure you overlap the handprints to create the body of the spider.
Step two
Let the paint dry a little. Draw a wiggly line with a felt tip from the top of the card to the centre of the spider.
Step three
Stick on googly eyes onto the body of the spider to bring it to life.
Step four
Decorate however you like. Create a background on the coloured card or add dark glitter to the spider to make it shimmer.
Step five
Pin up around the classroom as Halloween decorations. Or cut the spider out and place on the colourful spider web from the craft above, creating the perfect spider decorations for the classroom or for home.
Spooky noughts and crosses
Create a game of noughts and crosses with a Halloween twist. These Halloween figure pebbles are perfect to create games of noughts and crosses with, using these as the noughts and the crosses instead. Find out how to create these spooky pebbles and how to set up the game below.
What you’ll need
- Pebbles
- Paint markers
- Felt tips
- Black marker or tape
Step one
Find pebbles to use together for a fun outdoors activity. However, if this isn’t possible or doesn’t work use pre-bought drawing pebbles.
Step two
After washing the pebbles and allowing them to dry, let kids get creative with drawing Halloween figures onto the pebbles. You can use normal paint and a small paintbrush for this however, paint markers will be easier. Some Halloween figures to draw are a pumpkin, Frankenstein, zombie, spider or bat.
Step three
Once the paint has dried, use felt tips to create faces onto the Halloween figures. You can also add some extras such as googly eyes or small pom poms to finish them off.
Step four
Using tape or a black marker, create a 3×3 grid onto a hard and flat surface. This outlines the grid for noughts and crosses to be played in.
Step five
Play noughts and crosses in pairs with two sets of different pebbles and see who wins.
