Christmas Recipe – Gingerbread Biscuits
Is there anything better than freshly baked gingerbread biscuits to get you into the Christmas spirit?
We’ve got a nice and easy gingerbread biscuit recipe to try out with your little ones. Keep on reading below for all the steps!
Ingredients:
- 225g plain flour
- 100g butter (softened)
- 50g muscovado or brown sugar
- 2tsp of ginger (ground)
- ½ tsp bicarbonate soda
- 3tsp golden syrup
- 1tsp ground cinnamon
- Decoration – icing, sprinkles, sweets (optional)
- Christmas cookie cutters
Step 1
Heat the butter, syrup, and sugar together in a pan until melted and stir occasionally.
Step 2
Mix the flour, bicarbonate soda, cinnamon, and ginger in a large bowl. Then pour in the syrup mixture and stir to combine until a dough is formed.
Step 3
Next, lay the dough out onto a sheet of parchment paper or a floury surface and roll out the dough to a thickness of ½cm.
Step 4
Wrap the dough in cling film and leave in the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes.
Step 5
Remove the dough from the fridge and cut out various Christmas-style shapes using cookie cutters.
Step 6
Heat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place your shapes onto the tray and bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
Step 7
Once cooked, leave to cool for a few minutes. Afterwards, decorate your gingerbread shapes with your choice of icing, sprinkles and sweets!
Step 8
Finally, tuck in and enjoy your delicious gingerbread biscuits!
