Wellbeing Products to Support Children’s Mental Health
Children’s Mental Health Week starts this week and an opportunity to bring children’s mental health to the forefront. This year’s theme is “Let’s Connect” and focuses on reducing loneliness and isolation by making meaningful connections for all.
We’ve rounded up some useful products that can help your little ones deal with their thoughts and emotions in order to connect with them and ultimately have an understanding of how they may be feeling.
Take a read below to find out more.
Pip and the Bag of Buddies Kit
Life is one big journey, and this can be an overwhelming concept for young children. However, Pip and the Bag of Buddies can help them make friends with their feelings and spark connections between what they feel and what these emotions might look like. Each character can help your little one with communication as they spark conversation starters and unlock their emotions.
Discovery Stones – Monster Emotions
Children can sometimes feel overwhelmed by their emotions, making it difficult for them to communicate what they’re going through. Our Monster Emotions Discovery Stones can help support little ones who have difficulty understanding and managing their feelings by putting a face to it.
The resin stones offer a calming sensory experience with multiple emotions illustrated such as happy, sad, angry, worried, and frightened. Using the Discovery Stones can introduce children into labelling their feelings with new vocabulary and explore ways to manage them.
Dealing with Feelings Kit
Every child has their own way of expressing their emotions. Our Dealing with Feelings Kit encourages a tactile and visual approach to recognising and exploring emotions for young children.
With resources such as sensory stones, emotion rollers, small world figures and even a practical handbook, it will give your little one the opportunity to reflect on their feelings creatively. With the kit being so varied there is something to resonate with every child. There’s also a practical handbook which can be a useful guide, especially if being used in group settings.
Emotion Chalkboards
For children, sometimes talking about how they feel can be difficult. So instead, why not have them show you? Our Emotions Chalkboards are a fantastic resource to encourage children to express themselves through mark making. Whether its anger or worry they can add colour to these emotions and put their imaginations to the forefront. Plus, these chalkboards can be used indoors or outdoors, and sometimes being outside is the best remedy when feeling low.
Buddies Blanket
Sometimes all a child needs is a snuggly blanket! The super soft Buddies Blanket is a great addition to a cosy corner, especially when a toddler needs to relax and calm down. Take some quiet time with your little one and read about Pip’s adventures with her feelings and how she learns to handle them. Maybe your little ones will see some of themselves in Pip and her journey.
