Create a collection of woodland coaster creatures
These adorable little coasters are easier to create than they look. If you can draw a simple heart shape, then you can make this woodland themed tableware. Once you master the basic design you can add your own individual touches.
What you will need
- POSCA 24pc Classroom Pack Standard or POSCA Classroom 48pc Pack in Gratnells
- Round mdf or cardboard coasters
- Pencil
- Varnish
Step 1
Using a pencil, draw the top of a rounded heart shape in the middle of the disc for the robin and the reindeer designs. To create the fox, make a deeper shape and for the badger, draw two deep heart tops. Pencil in ragged lines over the top to create a fur effect.
Step 2
Colour the two halves on the robin, fox and deer with your Poscas as shown. For the badger, fill in the areas above and below the jagged heart. Draw a stripe in the centre with a white Posca. Use your black Posca to fill in the middle section.
Step 3
Once all the coloured-in coasters are dry, use contrasting Posca colours to draw in eyes, beaks and noses as shown. Leave to dry.
Step 4
Once dried, use another set of contrasting Posca colours to add details such as fur, highlights and antlers.
Step 5
Once your designs are dry, apply a clear varnish over your finished coasters.
